Yara El-Sherbini - Operation Brexit

Davina Drummond and Yara El-Sherbini are two social practice artists from the United Kingdom. They have been working for over 2 decades, creating art with a focus on engagement and participation. Unfailingly inventive, they use formats from within popular culture to make works which touch on the human condition, in different ways, be it geo-political or love, to knowledge or mental health. From jokes, to mini golf, choirs to tattoo parlours, they root their works in the everyday, using a lightness of touch and humour to make works that are both poetic and political.

In 2016 they were joint British Council Artist Fellow’s in the USA and recent commissions include a project for the Hayward Gallery, London and the South London Gallery. They have created artworks for multiple world leading art venues and public organisations such as the Hayward Gallery, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Tate Modern and Tate Britain, Venice Biennale, Manchester Art Gallery, Baltic, IKON, National Portrait Gallery, Somerset House, Camden Council, The Victoria & Albert, London, ZKM, Germany, HIAP, Helsinki, Kaunus Art Biennial (Lithuania),Modern Art Oxford, The RCA (London) Arnolfini (Bristol), National Maritime Museum, and the ICA (London).
